May 25, 2011 | Luke To Be On CMT Crossroads
Posted By: Melanie | Comments Off | Filed Under: Uncategorized

Classic rockers The Doobie Brothers and country star Luke Bryan will be heading to CMT for the next installment of CMT CROSSROADS when CMT CROSSROADS: THE DOOBIE BROTHERS and LUKE BRYAN premieres Friday, June 24 at 10:00 p.m., ET/PT.

Taped before an invitation-only audience in Nashville, The Doobie Brothers and Luke Bryan will perform their hits including The Doobie Brothers’ “Black Water,” Long Train Runnin,” and “China Grove,” and Bryan’s “Rain is a Good Thing,” “Do I” “and “Country Girl (Shake It For Me).”

“We are so pleased, and fortunate to be able to share the stage with Luke Bryan on Crossroads,” says Pat Simmons of The Doobie Brothers. “We love the challenge of performing such wonderfully crafted songs with an artist like Luke, and his band. He’s one of the most exciting artists on the country music scene these days. The energy, innovation, and soulfulness of the music he writes and performs, is right up our alley. We’re dustin’ off our country chops, and we look forward to having him join in on our songs. This is going to be a great experience for all of us, and fans of both country music, and rock ‘n roll. It could only happen on Crossroads!”

“I am really excited to perform on stage with the Doobie Brothers,” says Luke Bryan.  “Their music was such an iconic part of my growing up. I bet most Americans can hear a particular Doobie Brother’s song and have it take them back to a certain time and place in their life…and the best thing is, they are still creating great music today!”

As durable as American steel, Northern California’s Doobie Brothers celebrate their 40th anniversary this year.  Beginning with their multi-million-selling sophomore collection Toulouse Street (1972), the Doobies have recorded three multi-platinum albums, four platinum sets, and four gold records. TheirBest of the Doobies (1976) has sold 10 million copies – a rare “diamond record.”Their No. 1 singles “Black Water” (1974) and “What a Fool Believes” (1979), both gold, lead a catalog of indelible songs that include “Listen to the Music,” “Long Train Runnin’,” “Take Me In Your Arms (Rock Me),” “Takin’ It to the Streets,” “Minute By Minute,” “Real Love,” and “The Doctor.”  In 2010, original members Pat Simmons and Tom Johnston , and 30 year member and country producer/songwriter/player John McFee (Southern Pacific) marked a new chapter with the delivery of a potent album – World Gone Crazy (HOR Records), featuring a guest appearance by Country Music Hall of Famer Willie Nelson.  It’s their first new album in a decade, with tracks like “Far From Home” and their country single “World Gone Crazy” marking a renaissance of the propulsive roots-based, harmony laden, guitar driven style that sold an estimated 30 million records over the course of four decades.

Luke Bryan will release his third studio album for Capitol Records Nashville on August 9, Tailgates & Tanlines.  This project is the follow up to his GOLD-certified album Doin’ My Thing, which produced three back-to-back #1 singles- “Do I,” “Rain Is A Good Thing” and “Someone Else Calling You Baby.”  The lead single off the forth-coming project is “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” and is his fastest rising single to date.  The song debuted at #1 in U.S. digital singles sales with 105,498 downloads its first week.   Luke, who will perform and present on the CMT Music Awards on June 8, is currently nominated for two 2011 CMT Music Awards- Best Web Video of the Year for his video “It’s A Shore Thing” and as Best New Live Act, the Nationwide Insurance Award.   Fans can catch Luke on the road this summer on Tim McGraw’s “Emotional Traffic” tour.

Country artist Luke Bryan is poised to cross the threshold into the next level of stardom with his current single “Country Girl (Shake it For Me).”

The song has been breaking records since its release. It debuted as a No. 1 country digital single. After notching 105,498 digital single sales, it marks the biggest digital debut in Bryan’s career. It’s also the second highest digital sales debut for a country artist this year. Written by Luke Bryan and Dallas Davidson, “Country Girl” is No. 14 on the Billboard country charts.

“We are really excited about this single, and thrilled about what it’s doing,” Bryan said in a phone interview. “I think it,s a great lead-off to the new album that we are going to release this summer, which is chock-full of great music, if I may say so myself. Seriously though, it takes a lot of time and effort in writing and recording an album, and hopefully you,ve put together something that strikes a chord with the fans and give them something they can relate to.”

Relating to his fans is something Bryan is getting pretty good at. His previous three singles — “Do I,” “Someone Else Calling You Baby” and “Rain Is A Good Thing” — have all topped the country charts at No. 1, and have had mainstream cross-over success as well.

Bryan has been nominated for Best Web Video of the Year for “It’s a Shore Thing,” and Best New Live Act at the CMT awards, scheduled for June 8.

“The CMT Awards are special because they are fan voted, and it’s a fun show to go to as well,” Bryan said.

Fans can vote for Bryan by logging on to www.cmt.com.

This week, Bryan shared exclusive details to his fans first about his upcoming album through his Facebook page. During his live streaming announcement, Luke revealed the album title, its release date and performed a couple of the new album songs live “Drunk On You” and “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye.”

“Tailgates & Tanlines,” produced by Jeff Stevens, is Luke’s third studio album for Capitol Records Nashville and will be in stores Aug. 9.

“I’m so excited to be giving my fans new music!” Bryan said. “Writing and recording this project has been a blast. I feel like I continue to grow in my artistry and I hope that feeling never goes away. I think being out there on the road so much and seeing what the fans want make it much clearer for me to know what to give them. I hope they are as excited to hear it as I am to know what they think.

“‘Tailgates & Tanlines” pretty much sums up a good time and that is what I go out there every night wanting to accomplish. I want everyone that hears my music to forget about all the other things in their lives that might stress them out and just raise their hands and sing along.”

Bryan is currently out on the road with Tim McGraw on his Emotional Traffic Tour.

“It’s really been a blast out here so far,” Bryan said. “Tim’s fans are really dedicated to his music, and our styles seem to fit pretty good together. It’s like we have a lot of the same fans already. Being able to expose myself to his fans is a blessing as well. It’s a real good fit, I think, and the audiences have been pumped up and fun.”

Bryan is excited about his busy summer schedule, his career and his personal life.

“Things are really good for me now. This is a great tour for the summer, “Country Girl,” is hot and the album is coming out soon. I got a beautiful wife and two beautiful sons. I’m about as happy as a country boy from Leesburg, Georgia, can be.”
