It takes a special kind of singer to fit in with a team of sexy country girls as well as legends of rock ‘n’ roll. Luke Bryan seems to be comfortable surrounded by both. A just released preview of his episode of CMT’s ‘Crossroads’ reveals the country singer to be much more versatile than his fans may have given him credit for.

In the clip, Bryan and the Doobie Brothers trade vocals on ‘China Grove,’ a Top 20 hit in 1973. It’s just one of the rock band’s hits that will make the broadcast. They’ll also share ‘Black Water’ and ‘Long Train Runnin” with Bryan, while he’ll sing songs like ‘Do I,’ ‘Rain Is a Good Thing,’ and ‘Country Girl (Shake It For Me)’ during the June 24 broadcast. The exclusive performance was taped in Nashville last month.

“I am really excited to perform onstage with the Doobie Brothers,” Bryan says, according to a press release. “Their music was such an iconic part of my growing up. I bet most Americans can hear a particular Doobie Brothers song and have it take them back to a certain time and place in their life … and the best thing is, they are still creating great music today!” Indeed, the Doobie Brothers recently released ‘World Gone Crazy,‘ and have offered the title track to country radio.

Bryan looks very comfortable onstage amongst the rock heroes, never getting distracted by their cruelly efficient guitar work, or the enormous mustache that’s perched above lead singer Tom Johnston’s upper lip. One figures if he can make it through a performance like the one he gave last week at the CMT Music awards, he can make it through anything.
