Tuesday, September 6, 2011 – Luke Bryan garnered a CMA Awards nomination this morning in the New Artist category, his second in this category.
“I am so fired up about the nomination for CMA New Artist,” said Bryan from his home in Nashville this morning. “These moments are life changing, and I am very thankful to have this opportunity to represent the future of our format along with the other four nominees who I not only consider my peers, but my friends as well.”The CMA nomination follows in the heels of Bryan’s latest CD, “tailgates & tanlines,” debuting in the number 1 spot on Billboard’s Country Album chart and second on the Billboard Top 200, with sales 145,296 units sold. The CD is also the second highest selling debut for a country release this year, and the album’s lead single and top five hits, Country Girl (Shake It For Me), has sold more than 1 million downloads and is his best-selling single to date.
